Now it's 'Yuba Sutter Mall'

The Mall at Yuba City has changed its name. Say hello to the " Yuba Sutter Mall ."

The change is part of the mall's grand reopening, according to Thomas Felter, general manager of the shopping complex located at Highway 99 and Colusa Avenue in Yuba City .

"We're trying to be a little more regional," Felter said. "Our trade area is much wider than Yuba City and Marysville."

Steadfast Companies, based in Newport Beach , purchased the mall in September. With the new ownership came renovations, and it made sense to change the mall's name, Felter said.

"We're coming back into the 21st century, and (we) wanted to emphasis that with the name change," he said.

The mall's new name went up Monday on the marquee at the northeast corner of Highway 99 and Colusa Avenue . During the next week all the exterior door logos will be updated, Felter said.

The new logos have an orange background.

"It's very distinct, and yet it reflects the orchards and the agriculture in this area," said Becca Burkhead, the mall's marketing director.

This is the first time the mall has changed its name since it was established in the 1980s, Burkhead said.

There will always be someone who uses the old name, but the switch is easy enough, the marketing director said.

"It'll catch on pretty quick," she said. Besides a new name, other changes at the mall include a new children's play area, a new roof, and a new coat of paint for the mall's interior and exterior.

The new name will be officially unveiled in a ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday. On Saturday and Sunday there will be a scavenger hunt for kids, food and family entertainment in celebration of the renaming.
