November 12, 2003 (San Rafael, CA) Century Theatres, the San Rafael-based motion picture exhibitor, today announced its entry into the Seattle market with a new 16 screen theater located at the recently remodeled SeaTac Mall, in Federal Way, Washington in the greater Seattle Market. The new theater will feature 16 screens, stadium seating, digital stereo surround sound, LucasFilm THX certification, giant wall-to-wall screens, rocking love seats and a Cinema Café.

Century Theatres is the 7th largest theater circuit in the US, with one of the highest per screen averages in the industry. Century currently has theaters in eleven states including California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Alaska and Illinois.

“We’ve long looked forward to an opportunity to bring our brand of movie going experience to the Seattle market. Our theaters will offer patrons the finest movies, the most luxurious seats and the finest popcorn (with real butter), they have ever had”, said Raymond W. Syufy, Chairman and CEO of Century Theatres.

Century is known industry-wide for setting the standard at delivering an excellent experience to moviegoers, including a distinct lack of television commercials shown before the movie starts.

Century Theatres was started in 1941 by Raymond J. Syufy in Vallejo, California. Today, sons Raymond W. Syufy and Joseph Syufy are at the helm. In 2000, a new division, CinéArts was started in Evanston, Illinois, bringing art and independent film to the public within state-of-the-art theaters. Today there are 6 CinéArts locations.

“The theater will answer the call for culture within our redeveloped SeaTac Mall. As Century is known for building the highest caliber of theater, we are excited to help introduce them to the Seattle market” said Jim Yoder, Vice-President of Steadfast Commercial Properties of Newport Beach, California.

Century will break ground in March 2004 with an anticipated late 2004 opening date.
