November 12, 2003 (San Rafael, CA) Century Theatres,
the San Rafael-based motion picture exhibitor, today announced its
entry into the Seattle market with a new 16 screen theater located
at the recently remodeled SeaTac Mall, in Federal Way, Washington
in the greater Seattle Market. The new theater will feature 16 screens,
stadium seating, digital stereo surround sound, LucasFilm THX certification,
giant wall-to-wall screens, rocking love seats and a Cinema Café.
Century Theatres is the 7th largest theater circuit
in the US, with one of the highest per screen averages in the industry.
Century currently has theaters in eleven states including California,
New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Oregon,
Texas, Alaska and Illinois.
“We’ve long looked forward to an opportunity
to bring our brand of movie going experience to the Seattle market.
Our theaters will offer patrons the finest movies, the most luxurious
seats and the finest popcorn (with real butter), they have ever
had”, said Raymond W. Syufy, Chairman and CEO of Century Theatres.
Century is known industry-wide for setting the
standard at delivering an excellent experience to moviegoers, including
a distinct lack of television commercials shown before the movie
starts.
Century Theatres was started in 1941 by Raymond
J. Syufy in Vallejo, California. Today, sons Raymond W. Syufy and
Joseph Syufy are at the helm. In 2000, a new division, CinéArts
was started in Evanston, Illinois, bringing art and independent
film to the public within state-of-the-art theaters. Today there
are 6 CinéArts locations.

Century will break ground in March 2004 with an
anticipated late 2004 opening date.
